Tattoo Design for Cassandra

Tree with DNA Spiral

POSITION: Left Forearm

DESCRIPTION: Cassandra came to me from Colorado to get her very first tattoo. She is deeply rooted in the mountains she calls home, and she loves the snow and skiing. Thus, for this tattoo, she envisioned a forearm piece centered on a tree whose trunk transforms into a DNA strand, its roots set in an inverted mountain range. We placed the mountains upside down so that, from her perspective, she would always see them the right way up. This grounded base symbolizes her connection to the land and the place where she feels most at home.

At the bottom of the composition, around the mountains, sits an inverted triangle with a line through it, inspired by the alchemical symbol for earth — a reminder of the grounding nature of the mountains. From there, the DNA spiral rises into the trunk of the tree, bridging her roots with the life that grows above.

The tree crown is split between sacred geometry and realism: one side abstract, composed of geometric shapes, the other a realistic, living canopy of foliage. Above the tree, I added falcon silhouettes to further honor Cassandra’s deep connection with nature and her love for these majestic birds.

The whole design is framed with small geometric elements, and lines that mimin sun rays drawing the eye toward the tree’s center and top.

The piece was also designed with the possibility of expansion in mind, so that Cassandra can one day extend it into a sleeve across her upper arm and shoulder, since she already has ideas for potential continuation.

Our session was filled with meaningful conversation, making the entire process of getting her first tattoo a memorable experience.
